Adaptavate develops and industrialises low-carbon and carbon-negative construction materials, notably Breathaboard, a plasterboard alternative that can reduce up to 4kg of CO₂ per m². The company operates a pioneering pilot line for Breathaboard production and is preparing for industrial scale-up through its Project Crystal demonstrator facility. Project Crystal is intended to accelerate global adoption and includes a strategic partnership with SigmaRoc to create a resilient supply chain for calcium carbonate-based wallboards. Breathaboard meets international wallboard standards and is being trialled on major UK commercial sites with partners including British Land, Royal London Asset Management Property, and Overbury. Adaptavate has previously secured nearly £9 million through investment and public grants, and will use the new funding to advance Project Crystal and scale manufacturing. The company positions its technology as enabling circular, healthier building materials and supporting decarbonisation of the construction sector.
