Overview
Adaptive Symbiotic Technologies is a Portland, OR-based agricultural biotechnology company developing seed and plant treatments to protect crops from drought and other environmental stresses. Its first product, a microbial seed coating called BioEnsure, helps corn crops become more resistant to extreme heat, cold and drought. AST also has treatments for wheat, soybeans and vegetables that have been tested and are expected to be available for commercialization soon. After focusing on R&D and field trials, the company signed an agreement with international seed distributor INCOTEC, which offers a global distribution network. The company is conducting field tests in India, Australia, South America and Europe and intends to use the funds for international expansion. Led by co-founder and CEO Dr. Russell Rodriguez, AST closed a $3.4M Series A in January 2016.
