Aether builds a molecular assembler platform that combines high-throughput robotics, machine learning, and synthetic biology to map millions of enzyme-reaction combinations and engineer nanoscale machines from protein building blocks. The platform can extract lithium from previously-inaccessible reserves and create enhanced products across automotive, healthcare, home electronics, and other industries. By generating large volumes of experimental data, the company engineers new classes of nanoscale machines that operate with the power and sophistication of gigantic chemical factories at nanometer scale. Led by CEO Pavle Jeremic, Aether said it will use the Series A proceeds to scale its platform and expand engineering, machine learning, and hardware teams. The company will initially focus lithium extraction in southern and middle U.S. regions, including Oklahoma and Arkansas, and will target Texas and Oklahoma for extraction from oil and gas wastewater and capped oil wells. Aether is based in Menlo Park, California.
