Agrando
Agnes-Pockels-Bogen 1, Munich, Bayern, 80992, Germany
Overview
Agrando operates a marketplace and tooling platform that connects farmers, ag retailers and suppliers with technically optimized trading processes, data-based analyses and personalized advice. The company offers a free Agrando Basic tier and a mobile-first paid ‘Pro’ membership that includes a subscription fee and a dedicated account manager. Product development priorities include a recommendation engine to suggest products and services tailored to a farm’s characteristics and an outputs-oriented marketplace currently in pilot. Agrando claims close to 20,000 farmers registered and about 1,000 new members signing up each month, and it expanded into France earlier this year. The startup was founded in 2015 by CEO Jonathan Bernwieser and CTO Jonas Hueber and is based in Munich. Series A proceeds will be used for international expansion, scaling operations and R&D as the company eyes a Series B next year. Agrando operates an online marketplace that lets farmers request products from one or multiple dealers, compare offers, and centrally document orders while remaining compatible with legacy channels such as fax. The platform also supports operational planning by checking farmers’ key figures for optimisation potential and aggregating order volumes to secure better pricing. Rather than disintermediating retailers, Agrando partners with existing dealers and manufacturers to digitise their processes and improve supply-chain efficiency. Founder Jonathan Bernwieser launched the company in 2017 and the team claims to have Germany’s largest dealer network and the country’s largest digital product search engine for agricultural resources. Agrando aims to become Germany’s largest online network for farmers while avoiding the logistics burden of owning distribution, preferring to integrate with incumbents’ systems.
