Aheesa Digital Innovations is a Chennai-based fabless semiconductor design startup that has achieved first-pass silicon success for its VIHAAN broadband networking SoC. VIHAAN is built on the domestic VEGA microprocessor and is purpose-built for fibre broadband infrastructure. The company plans to move the chip toward a volume-production tape-out targeted for 2027. Financially, Aheesa recently raised ₹40 crore in a seed round led by the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Fund Management Corporation via the Tamil Nadu Emerging Sector Seed Fund, alongside private investors, to accelerate product deployment. The firm’s progress is highlighted within the central government’s Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, which has supported multiple domestic chip design breakthroughs. Aheesa’s milestone contributes to broader ecosystem activity that includes dozens of tape-outs and government programmes aimed at scaling domestic semiconductor design to commercial production.
