AILOS Robotics
Robotics & Mechatronics Lab, Brussels, Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest, Belgium
Overview
AILOS Robotics is a Brussels-based spin-off from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and its BruBotics research centre that focuses on robotic actuation. After a decade of research supported by VLAIO and Innoviris, the team has commercialised its patented R2poweR gearbox, which blends quasi-direct drive agility with industry-leading torque density. The architecture enables lighter, quieter, more energy-efficient robots capable of safe human interaction, and is designed for cost-effective, scalable production suited to high-volume manufacturing. Having validated its minimum viable product, the company is now transitioning from lab to factory and engaging robot manufacturers for pilot integrations. Near-term plans include scaling manufacturing capacity and solidifying supply-chain partnerships to support Europe’s humanoid and collaborative robotics sectors. Financially, AILOS has secured a €3.5 million seed round to fund industrialisation; no revenue or deployment metrics have yet been disclosed.
