Akiram Therapeutics is developing a targeted radioimmunotherapy that combines the company’s proprietary antibody with the radioactive compound lutetium‑177. Its lead candidate’s first indication is anaplastic thyroid cancer, where extensive preclinical studies showed tumours disappearing entirely after a single treatment in animal models. The company believes the candidate has potential to be first‑in‑class and to qualify as an orphan drug. Akiram also sees clinical potential in other thyroid and head‑and‑neck cancers. The team includes leading experts in radiation science, precision oncology and drug development, and is led by founder and CEO Marika Nestor. Recent financing gives the company resources to accelerate development and prepare for clinical trials, including an intended phase I study.
