Akura Medical is a Los Gatos-based medical technology company within the Shifamed portfolio that targets venous thromboembolism (VTE) treatment. Its flagship Katana™ Thrombectomy System uses high-velocity saline jets and embedded sensors to break up diverse clot types while providing real-time pulmonary artery pressure data during procedures. Complementing the hardware, the company is building NavIQ™, a CT-based quantification platform that creates 3D pulmonary vasculature models and offers clot characterization to aid pre-procedural planning. Together, the products aim to deliver more precise, data-driven thrombectomy and improve patient outcomes.
