ALA Diagnostics is a Spanish biotechnology company developing a blood-based in vitro diagnostic kit for early detection of multiple sclerosis. Its lead product, the ALA Diagnostics Em Kit, is based on a recombinant protein biomarker whose diagnostic activity has been validated in 598 human samples. The company plans to complete kit development, run international clinical trials, and seeks commercialization in Europe and the United States in the coming months. With the new funding it intends to open a production laboratory inside Madrid’s M-30 and build a multidisciplinary team to complete the final development stage. ALA Diagnostics was founded in 2019 and the founding team retains majority ownership; management includes CEO José Ramón Montero and neurologist Óscar Fernández. Previously the company closed an initial financing round in 2021 and earlier this year received a non-repayable grant of more than €500,000 from the European Commission to support R&D.
