Alight develops, finances, builds and operates solar facilities that are located on or near industrial customers’ sites so the power is consumed on-site, lowering energy costs and emissions while increasing energy security. The company focuses on behind-the-meter (BtM) projects under long-term power-purchase agreements and has already signed more than 60 PPAs across Europe with clients such as Lear, Kingspan and Toyota Material Handling. In the United Kingdom alone, Alight is assembling a BtM portfolio exceeding 50 MWp, with all projects scheduled to come online by 2027. By producing electricity where it is used, Alight’s model also eases grid congestion and provides predictable electricity pricing for its customers. SEB has been a recurring financing partner, previously extending green loans for Alight’s parks in Sweden and Finland and funding the acquisition of the Lidsø park in Denmark. The new financing round strengthens Alight’s balance sheet and accelerates its rollout of customer-sited solar across Europe.
