Altheos is an early-stage biopharmaceutical company based in South San Francisco focused on identifying and developing small-molecule drugs for unmet medical needs. The company's lead program is ATS907, a selective Rho-kinase inhibitor licensed from Asahi Kasei Pharma. The license also includes the AK138 series of highly active compounds intended for topical treatment of glaucoma. Altheos completed a $20M Series A financing to fund its development programs. The new capital will be used primarily for development of ATS907. In conjunction with the financing the company expanded its board, adding Lester Kaplan as chairman and appointing Rob Hopfner (Bay City Capital), Peter Bisgaard (Novo A/S) and Wende Hutton (Canaan Partners).
