Amplion Clinical Communications (formerly Dalcon Communication Systems) sells Amplion Alert, a wireless in-room clinical communications and closed-loop alert-and-response system. Amplion Alert sends care alerts as text messages to wireless phones and the nurses’ station, allows caregivers to accept assignments, and requires in-room confirmation to close the loop. The system is designed to reduce patient falls, pressure ulcers and alarm fatigue (the company cites up to 97% reduction), improve HCAHPS scores, and help hospitals track compliance with care protocols. Amplion reports early customer success, including Androscoggin Valley Hospital, which saw higher HCAHPS scores and no major falls in two and a half years after installation. The company plans to use its new financing to expand sales of the technology to hospitals nationwide. Amplion emphasizes that its solution supports staffing-ratio management and nurse retention by integrating documentation into clinical workflows.
