Overview
Amprologix, a spin-out from the University of Plymouth, focuses on discovering and developing new antibiotics aimed at hard-to-treat, antimicrobial-resistant infections. Its lead asset, epidermicin NI01, targets Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and has shown daily-dose efficacy comparable to current standard wound-care treatments. The company plans to complete pre-clinical work on NI01 and enter Phase I human trials in 2026. In parallel, Amprologix is advancing TOBRADERM, a £1 million R&D project supported by Innovate UK’s Biomedical Catalyst programme, and is progressing a separate programme for preventing and treating Clostridioides difficile infections. Financially, the company has just secured £740,000 in pre-Series A capital and intends to raise a £5 million Series A round to fund first-in-human studies and broaden its drug pipeline. Frontier IP Group plc holds an equity stake in the company. The recent investment also strengthens the board with the addition of Dr. Rita Dobmeyer from Plutus Investment Group.
