Anomaly Bio is a Singapore-based biotechnology startup developing next-generation bio-based inputs by turning engineered microbes into ‘micro-factories.’ Using strain engineering and advanced fermentation, the company converts sugar into high-value ingredients for sectors such as crop protection, nutrition, and personal care. Its technology is positioned as a more resilient alternative to conventional agricultural and petrochemical supply chains that are increasingly disrupted by geopolitical and environmental shocks. With the fresh capital, Anomaly Bio plans to establish its own laboratory and pilot-scale facilities in Singapore while expanding its metabolic-engineering R&D team. The founders view the effort as aligned with Singapore’s national push for advanced biomanufacturing and “flexible multilateralism.” Prior to the current raise, the company collected more than $120,000 in non-dilutive awards from MIT’s WFA Prize 2025 and the WTFund Fellowship, as well as support from NUS and Mars Petcare’s Next Generation Pet Food Program. The team ultimately aims to build a globally competitive ingredients business powered by synthetic biology and on-demand production.
