Apoello
Chorley, Lancashire, Chorley, Lancashire, United Kingdom
Overview
Apoello is a materials science start-up spun out of the University of Liverpool’s Department of Chemistry that digitises the discovery of new materials. Its platform combines large-scale molecular data sets, advanced computational modelling and procurement tools to help researchers focus on the most promising candidates, slashing the time and cost tied to failed laboratory experiments. The technology stems from the DiaDEM research programme and is led by co-founders Dr Ömer Omar and Professor Alessandro Troisi, a noted expert in computational chemistry. By reducing reliance on physical experimentation, the company targets faster innovation in fields such as organic electronics and renewable energy technologies. Fresh funding will allow Apoello to expand its team, refine its software and launch pilot collaborations with industrial partners. The firm has so far raised £470,000 in pre-seed capital to support these efforts. Revenue, customer and user metrics have not yet been disclosed as the company is still pre-commercial.
