Overview
ArtiQ is a KU Leuven spin-off that has developed ArtiQ|PFT, an AI-based decision support tool that analyses pulmonary function tests to provide fast, objective interpretations. The cloud-based software can be linked to PFT machines or synchronized with electronic patient records and automatically generates reports in patient files. ArtiQ|PFT has been clinically validated and used by University Hospitals Leuven for more than a year, and it can discriminate between nine common respiratory diseases including COPD, asthma, and interstitial lung disease. The company says its machine-learning models are twice as accurate as pulmonologists at interpreting PFT patterns and can serve as a second opinion, especially for rare patterns. ArtiQ plans to deploy the technology in multiple Belgian hospitals by the end of the year and aims for rapid international growth. It is also developing solutions for spirometry quality control and diagnostics in general practice and clinical trials, and is investigating use for other diagnostic decisions and individualized therapy prescriptions.
