Asilimia provides the Leja app, which enables traders to make mobile money transactions without transfer fees while offering bookkeeping and inventory-management features. A typical user makes about three transactions per day; the business reports roughly 27,000 users and about $20 million in total transactions, with growth of about 30% week on week. The company says it will extend loans and airtime top-up credit (at no interest) to traders based on app data. Asilimia has participated in Station F and the Norrsken Impact Accelerator programs. It plans to hire talent, fine-tune its technology, and expand into another market in East Africa and beyond. The startup was founded in 2017 and is based in Nairobi. It aims to expand its customer base and scale operations to Kenyan cities Nakuru and Mombasa.
