Assured Labor

62 E. 1st Street Unit 4N, New York, 10003, United States

Overview

Assured Labor operates two brands, EmpleoListo and TrabalhoJá, that link employers and low-skilled job seekers in Mexico and Brazil using SMS for workers and a paid SaaS matching product for employers. The company reports about 50,000 employers and 2 million job seekers on its platforms and has connected workers with roughly 100,000 jobs. Employers pay for matches (from about $80 per post up to $100,000 annually) while workers use the service for free. Revenue grew eightfold last year, with business split fairly evenly between Mexico and Brazil and Brazil recently accelerating. Major hiring verticals are call centers and retail, and partners include Ambev, Atento, Sears and Inbursa; the company has also seen pickup from on-demand platforms like Uber. Management says the new funding will be used to build out the sales team and increase marketing to accelerate growth. Assured Labor runs mobile and SMS-based job-matching services that connect low- and middle-income workers with employers across Latin America. The company operates EmpleoListo in Mexico and TrabalhoJá in Brazil and was incubated at MIT’s Media Lab. Its platforms report 500,000 job seekers and 16,000 employers and are growing at roughly 1,000 new employers per month. Employers pay to post roles; Assured Labor finds qualified candidates and notifies them by text or email so workers can respond via text or a private phone number. The startup maintains operations in New York, Mexico City and São Paulo and only entered the Brazilian market about a year ago. Many users still rely on feature phones, and the company expects broader smartphone adoption to improve user experience. Assured Labor operates a web and mobile marketplace that connects employers with mid-to-low wage workers in emerging markets. The service leverages text messaging and the Internet so job seekers can receive interview requests via SMS, reflecting that 67% of Internet users do not have a computer at home. Its platform is optimized for candidates in regions where mobile access outstrips home computer ownership. Employers use the service to shorten recruitment cycles from weeks to hours, addressing high worker turnover. The company launched its Latin American product, EmpleoListo, in 2009 after being founded at the MIT Media Lab. The recent seed funding will support expansion of EmpleoListo and enhancements to its recruitment technology.
