Aster

Overview
Aster offers a vertically integrated platform that combines patient-facing features (asynchronous messaging, telehealth, remote patient monitoring, and educational resources) with provider-focused clinical administration and remote-monitoring tools. The patient app—full release planned for Q2 2024—enables Bluetooth-enabled tracking of blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose, and urinalysis, plus direct communication with care teams. For providers, Aster’s software streamlines scheduling, charting, intake, and supports telehealth and network consolidation to expand practice capacity. The company launched in June 2023, initially focusing on midwifery-led care, birth centers, and nurse practitioner–led care, with plans to serve OB/GYN providers soon after. Aster has 30 clinics signed up from a private pilot and is onboarding providers and patients across several U.S. states, including California and Texas; it expects to work with more than 100 providers and serve approximately 20,000 patients by year end. The founding team includes Fifi Kara, Dr. Lailah Kara-Newton, and Andrew Q. Tran, and the core staff comprises physicians, engineers, policy advisors, and product leaders. The company raised its first institutional funding to accelerate scaling, nationwide availability, and hiring of key operational roles.
