Overview
Atlantic Quantum develops scalable superconducting quantum computers with a focus on achieving fault-tolerant hardware by improving qubit coherence and control. The company plans to use new types of noise-protected qubits to improve coherence times by an order of magnitude and employ extensible control schemes to enable processor scaling. Founded in spring 2022 by researchers from MIT’s Engineering Quantum Systems (EQuS) group, the team includes CEO Bharath Kannan, President and CTO Simon Gustavsson, and other leaders drawn from MIT and Chalmers. Atlantic Quantum announced a $9 million seed investment led by The Engine to fund technical development and commercialization efforts. The company intends to expand its team in the U.S. and Sweden, build out lab space in Cambridge, MA, and advance collaborations with industry partners. Atlantic Quantum emphasizes prioritizing qubit quality before size to accelerate real-world applications across healthcare, finance, manufacturing, communication, and logistics.
