Augment builds a polished, opinionated online 'Augment MBA' consisting of videos, case studies, quizzes, written assignments and downloadable handbooks. The program is unaccredited, delivered entirely online, includes high-production videos featuring business founders and a faculty that includes Jimmy Wales, Steve Chen and Chris Barton. Augment also emphasizes community and networking and has enrolled more than 500 students in six months, about 80% of whom are from the U.S.; the core product is sold via a one-time payment ($1,750) rather than a subscription. The company plans to expand beyond its flagship program into shorter 'mini-MBA' courses, corporate offerings, bundles and other sales channels. There are high upfront content production costs that the startup aims to recover to fund expansion. Augment raised a $6 million seed round led by RTP Global to support growth.
