Overview
Avanan provides cloud-native security for SaaS email and collaboration platforms, protecting Office 365, G Suite, Box, ShareFile, Slack and other collaboration apps from phishing, malware, data leakage, account takeover and shadow IT. Its multi-vendor platform enables customers to pick and choose preconfigured security technologies from leading vendors and activate them inside Avanan with one click, offered as predefined bundles or à la carte. Avanan connects directly to the cloud and scans after the default security but before the inbox, which the company says enables faster deployment and detection that proxies outside the cloud miss. The company reports a tenfold increase in its customer base over the past 12 months and currently protects over 1 million end-user accounts across startups to Fortune 100 organizations. Avanan sells its solution under the Avanan label and through several white-label OEMs with leading IT security vendors. The company plans to use the new funding to further accelerate its growth. Avanan's Cloud Security Platform enables enterprises to protect AWS, Box, Google, Office 365 and other SaaS/IaaS products with preconfigured cloud-based versions of security technologies from more than 60 vendors, including Check Point, Symantec, McAfee, Palo Alto Networks, Sophos and Kaspersky. The platform consolidates malware protection, antivirus, data loss prevention, endpoint compliance, behavior monitoring, email security, anti-phishing, encryption and more into a single pane of glass. Because it is entirely cloud-based and leverages only APIs, Avanan's product deploys in minutes with no impact on end users and allows automated, scalable incident response. The company was founded in 2014 by the team that led ForeScout's pivot to network access control and is led by CEO Gil Friedrich; headquarters are in New York City with R&D in Tel-Aviv. Avanan has been named a 2016 Gartner Cool Vendor and one of CRN's 20 Coolest Cloud Security Vendors of 2016. The company has raised $16.4 million in total capital and says the new financing will support its rapidly growing customer base and continued market adoption.
