Azota offers an online software platform that helps educators develop, proctor and automatically grade tests using an OCR system built from Vietnamese teaching materials. Its OCR reportedly recognizes Vietnamese tests with 99% accuracy and the company says it can cut grading time from two hours to two minutes. The platform shuffles recognized Q&A to generate hundreds of modified test combinations; the team is developing a more advanced question bank to let teachers assemble exams from scratch. Azota was created amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and was founded last year by CEO Au Nguyen with co-founders Dai Nguyen and Hung Le. The startup reports 700,000 teachers and 10 million students as users, serving more than six million users in peak months (about 30% of teachers and students in Vietnam), with roughly 22% of educators coming from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The company follows a product-led growth approach focused on solving teachers' assignment and grading pain points rather than building a full LMS.
