Overview
Bainbridge Health developed a medication-management software platform that uses data from infusion pumps to help make medication applications error-proof. Founded in 2016 as a spinout from the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the company initially focused on that pump-data platform. Under CEO Joseph Kaupp the firm is expanding the product into a broader suite of tools—Kaupp likens the shift from Microsoft Word to the full Microsoft Office suite. The expansion is intended to combat medical errors, described in the article as a leading cause of death in the country. Financially, Bainbridge recently received a $1.6M infusion and all told has raised a $3.5M seed round split across multiple tranches. Investors in the recent infusion include BioAdvance, CHOP, Chestnut Street Ventures and private investors. Bainbridge Health is a CHOP spinout that develops a software platform geared at managing infusion pumps. The company recently raised $1.3 million in a seed round to continue building out its platform. CEO Joseph Kaupp said the funding will be used to expand the scope and functionality of the technology, advance the company’s implementation pipeline, and increase sales efforts. The raise is documented in an SEC filing. The company has been identified as a realLIST honoree. Bainbridge Health builds a SaaS medication-management platform that ingests and cleans siloed clinical data to reduce medication safety errors. Its initial product optimizes the workflow and data integration for Smart Infusion Pumps, automating data-clerking tasks clinicians currently do manually. The startup was incubated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and spun out on July 7, with CHOP providing an undisclosed equity investment. BioAdvance also supplied a $54,000 note to get the company started. The three-person team is based in a Center City coworking space in Philadelphia and plans to have the system live in two hospitals in November. Leadership says the infusion-pump work is the beginning of a platform they will leverage to address other verticals in medicine.
