551 Mt Guardian Rd Ext, Bearsville, New York, 12409, United States
Overview
BAKX Therapeutics focuses on developing therapeutics that activate pro-apoptotic proteins (notably BAX/BAK) using structure-based and computational drug discovery to target the mitochondrial apoptosis pathway. Its lead asset, BKX-001, is partnered with Ipsen and is aimed at leukemia, lymphoma and solid tumors. The company is advancing a BAKX Activator Program toward the clinic in hematologic malignancies and solid tumors and plans to deploy its computational platform to drug other apoptosis targets implicated in solid tumors and resistance. BAKX was co-founded by apoptosis and computational drug discovery researchers Loren D. Walensky and Evripidis Gavathiotis. The new capital will support faster clinical advancement and broader application of the platform to additional targets and resistance prevention. Financially, BAKX closed a $25 million Series A and recently entered a partnership with Ipsen that includes up to $852 million in upfront and potential milestone payments related to BKX-001.
