Ballerine provides a platform that automates KYC and KYB decisioning by ingesting data from websites, social networks, company registries, sanctions lists, credit agencies and PEP databases to verify identities and assess risk. The product is available as a backend API that integrates with a customer’s systems or as a hosted front-end for teams that want an off-the-shelf solution. The core platform is open source (Apache 2.0) while the commercial entity develops proprietary features and services — including enterprise hosting, PII vaulting, audit logs, backups and disaster recovery — as part of its monetization strategy. Ballerine recently launched a hosted SaaS incarnation that is not yet publicly available and is currently serving clients "under the radar" to validate readiness for larger customers. The company emphasizes extensibility so customers can contribute to and customize the infrastructure as they scale and expand into new geographies or lines of business. Founded in 2022, Ballerine participated in Y Combinator and raised a small venture round last year before announcing its seed funding.
