Overview
BCV develops an actuable steerable mechatronic guidewire system controlled by a smart handle and generator, using shape‑memory alloy to enable distal tip control. The device is designed to enhance safety, reduce procedure time, and improve outcomes in stroke and arterial disease interventions. BCV completed a first in‑human clinical trial in 2022 at Rothschild Foundation Hospital in Paris and has filed a pre‑submission application with the FDA; the system remains an investigational device and is not commercially available. The company has built an in‑house manufacturing and R&D plant in Reims to support production and miniaturization. Founded in 2016, BCV developed its core mechatronic technology with ISIR at Sorbonne University and INSERM. The current funding is intended to accelerate development toward FDA and CE mark approvals and go‑to‑market efforts.
