Bear builds Servi, a mobile, table-like service robot that moves orders from point A to point B in restaurants. The company positions Servi as a way to augment human waitstaff rather than fully replace them and is cautious about full automation. Bear has commercial partnerships with Chili’s, Compass Group, Denny’s, Marriott and Pepsi and has been expanding deployments. The firm is pushing to get its system into more restaurants in Japan, a market driven by labor shortages and investor interest. Its Servi robots have delivered 28 million meals over a combined 335,000 miles. Bear has raised capital to support growth, with total funding now around $117 million to date.
