Overview
Beatrobo develops PlugAir, a small device embedded with a patent-pending microchip that converts sound waves into electric power and data to authenticate mobile phones and unlock cloud-stored content. The technology lets content creators remotely update fans' PlugAir devices, enabling a constant stream of content and can be embedded into existing products. Beatrobo launched PlugAir in the U.S. in December 2013 through a partnership with Los Angeles-based Machine Shop, with an initial custom edition for Linkin Park's member community. The company is led by founder and CEO Hiroshi Asaeda. Financially, Beatrobo recently closed a $1.1M funding round. The deal includes strategic manufacturing rights granted to one of the backers.
