Better Cakez is a Cologne-based food startup that produces ready-to-eat snack cakes containing up to 30 % hidden vegetables and 24 % nuts. The cakes are vegan, gluten-free, free from industrial sugar, preservatives and palm oil, certified organic and IFS compliant, and remain shelf-stable for at least six months without refrigeration; each unit comes in plastic-free packaging with an integrated fork. Founder Isabelle Forster started the venture in her attic apartment and has since built an in-house production facility in Germany. The brand has amassed more than 55,000 social-media followers and earned accolades from outlets such as Handelsblatt and the NRW Ministry for Economy, Industry and Climate Protection. With fresh funding, the company plans to enter new markets, expand its reach and place its products in supermarkets. Financially, Better Cakez just closed a €810,000 second funding round, though revenue figures have not been disclosed. The new capital will support scaling of production and marketing as the business grows.
