BindEthics

Unit 4 Holbeck Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS11 9UN, United Kingdom

Overview

BindEthics is creating what it claims will be the first fully bio-derived, formaldehyde-free adhesive for the engineered wood industry. The Leeds-based firm converts brewing waste into a biodegradable glue that is recyclable, non-toxic and generates up to 86 % lower carbon emissions than conventional petrochemical or formaldehyde-based products. While its initial focus is on furniture and engineered wood, the technology also has potential applications in construction and packaging. The company positions its product as a response to tightening environmental regulations and a global adhesive market worth more than £50 billion. Chief executive Victoria Garcia has previously secured over £400,000 in angel capital and Innovate UK grants to advance R&D and early commercialisation. With the new funding, BindEthics plans to hire specialist talent and move toward large-scale industrial trials. The team emphasises the product’s recyclability, biodegradability, and alignment with consumer and regulatory demand for greener materials.
