Brydehusvej 28, Ballerup, Capital Region of Denmark, 2750, Denmark
Overview
BioGasol develops and licenses the Carbofrac® series of commercial-scale pretreatment reactors for cost-efficient conversion of lignocellulosic materials (e.g., agricultural waste and wood) into fuel and other oil-based replacements. The company was founded in January 2006 as a spinout from the Technical University of Denmark and has demonstrated up-scaled pilot and demonstration plants since 2006. BioGasol has more than 30 employees and a sister company, C5 Labs ApS, that has developed proprietary pentose/hexose co‑fermentation technology. Management says the reactor forms the first essential pre-treatment stage in production lines and that the technology has been well received by industry. The company plans to build a large-scale testing and production demonstration facility in Denmark, with first-phase construction beginning in early 2013 and co-financing from industrial partners. The new funding will support capacity expansion to serve a growing customer base, including strategic North American partner SweetWater Energy.
