Overview

Bitpanda is a Europe-focused trading platform founded in 2014 that began with crypto and has expanded to offer commission-free investing in precious metals and stocks. The platform reports roughly 3 million users and says it is on track for 6x customer growth year-over-year, with revenues projected to increase sevenfold in 2021 versus the prior year. Stocks trading is still in beta and crypto remains the preferred product for its users. In June the company expanded into B2B with a white-label platform allowing other fintechs and banks to offer trading to their customers. Bitpanda operates offices and tech hubs in eight European cities, including Vienna, Barcelona, Berlin, Krakow, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris, and has a headcount of 500+. The company says Series C proceeds will be used for international expansion, hiring, and to bolster tech and product as it scales. Bitpanda is a Vienna, Austria–based fintech that operates as a retail broker for cryptocurrencies, precious metals and other assets. The platform is used by over 2 million people. The company raised a €10M extension of its Series B round after completing a $170M Series B in March that valued the business at $1.2bn. Bitpanda said it will use the new funds to bring in extensive know-how to strengthen its institutional offering in Europe, covering referral solutions through to custom-built tech integrations. Services are intended to be integrated into apps so users can invest across fintechs, multi-bank setups, robo-advisors, traditional banks and online platforms. The company is led by co-founder and CEO Eric Demuth. Bitpanda is a Vienna-based neobroker that operates a trading platform primarily for cryptocurrency but expanding into stocks, gold and other established assets. The company says it is shifting to become a pan-investment platform rather than just a crypto broker and plans to add ETFs and fractional trades in April. Bitpanda is live in Austria, France, Spain, Turkey, Italy and Poland, and plans further expansion this year with hubs in Madrid, Barcelona, London, Paris and Berlin. Since its Series A six months ago the company reports that revenue and customer numbers have grown roughly 10x and it has added about 700,000 users. Bitpanda says it has been profitable for four years and expects to very soon cross €100 million revenue for the first few months of this year, which annualizes to roughly €300–400 million. Its “Pro” tier trading volume for companies rose from about $2 million daily in September to over $25 million now. Bitpanda is a Vienna-based centralized crypto assets platform that runs its own infrastructure rather than on a public blockchain. It supports trading of digital assets and the tokenization of precious metals. The company claims 1.3 million users and employs about 300 people. Bitpanda expanded into France, Spain and Turkey in 2020 and says it plans to enter additional European markets this year and next. The firm will use the new funding to accelerate its international expansion. The company is described as not yet very well known or widely used in the broader crypto world. Bitpanda is a Vienna-based fintech that operates a digital-asset trading platform and has launched the Bitpanda Global Exchange for experienced traders, professionals and institutions. Founded in 2014, the company reports more than 1 million users and around 120 team members. Bitpanda offers crypto-to-crypto trading worldwide and fiat-to-crypto trading in more than 54 countries, and supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, gold and over 20 other digital assets. The firm holds a PSD2 payment service provider license and highlights state-of-the-art security alongside a streamlined user experience. The Bitpanda Global Exchange was developed 100% in-house over two years and aims to offer some of the lowest maker and taker fees in the industry. Management says the company will use the €43.6 million raised with its BEST token IEO to drive expansion beyond Europe and cryptocurrencies.
