Blackmoon operates a platform that enables institutional investors to invest directly in loans issued by balance-sheet lenders. It currently works with lenders in the US, Russia, Finland and several other countries around Europe. The company charges investors for access to loans it says are not available on other services and positions itself as a competitor to Lending Club. Blackmoon intends to use the new funding to expand deeper into the US and to continue development of its platform, including applying for a broker/dealer license in 2017. CEO Oleg Seydak and Target Global partner Mikhail Lobanov commented on the company’s market opportunity and the platform’s ability to scale geographically and across product segments. The company raised $2.5 million in the reported financing round.
