BodeTree offers an online tool that connects with day-to-day accounting software to create comprehensive snapshots of a small business’s financials, forecasts, and valuation. The platform helps owners set growth goals and strategy and includes a funding center portal that connects entrepreneurs to traditional and alternative lenders. BodeTree supports multiple accounting platforms, including QuickBooks Online and Xero, and was created by a team of former consultants, portfolio managers, and Fortune 500 executives. The company reports more than 50,000 small business users and expects that number to double in the coming months via partnerships with local small business associations in Arizona, Michigan, and Ohio. The new capital will be used to support continued platform improvements, grow revenue, and expand the user base toward a target of more than 200,000 small businesses. BodeTree was founded in 2011 and launched its software platform in 2012. BodeTree provides small business owners with a dashboard-like interface that uses colorful widgets, charts and a playful "BodeTree guy" mascot to indicate business health and simplify financial management. The product is integrated in Intuit's App Center (set to relaunch as Apps.com) and the company says it will deepen that partnership while moving to a platform-neutral approach so any accounting system can connect. This quarter BodeTree plans to release an all-new user interface designed to move the product from a reporting tool to a hands-on management tool for better decision-making. The startup also operates an online university offering week-long financial and business classes priced at $20–$50, adopting a SkillShare-style revenue split that pays 70–80% to teachers. BodeTree has more than 5,000 paying customers who pay $49.95 per month or $495 per year and runs a 15-person team. The recent seed financing is intended to support product development, expanded partnerships, the university offering, and additional hires in development, sales and marketing.
