Bookmate is a subscription "social reading" service available on mobile, tablet and web. It offers access to roughly 400,000 books from about 300 publishers globally. The service reports 1.5 million active monthly users across Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other Russian-speaking markets (including Turkey) and a 7% conversion rate to paid subscribers. Bookmate monetizes via partnerships with mobile network operators, device makers, online retailers and local governments. As an open platform it provides publishers with user-behavior analytics and promotion tools so publishers retain direct relationships with readers. The company is focused on emerging markets and plans international expansion starting with Turkey, Scandinavia and Latin America.
