Brain Corp develops AI-enabled autonomous navigation and autonomy software (Brain OS) for floor-cleaning robots. It powers more than 6,500 Tennant cleaning robots in the field. The company will supply next-generation navigation software and hardware that will be available exclusively on Tennant machines for floorcare applications, beginning with the X4 ROVR launching in Q2 2024. Under the expanded exclusive technology agreement, Tennant and Brain Corp plan to build out a portfolio of AMR cleaning products and bundle equipment with autonomy services sold by Tennant. That bundling is expected to simplify buying for customers and create recurring revenue for Tennant's autonomy services. Tennant invested $32 million in Brain Corp, and Tennant CFO Fay West will join Brain Corp's board of directors. Brain Corp builds core AI technology for the robotics industry, licensing its BrainOS robotic AI software to OEM partners. Its software enables autonomous mobile robots that operate safely in dynamic indoor public spaces. OEM partners such as Tennant Company, Nilfisk, Alfred Kärcher, Minuteman International, Dane Technologies and UniCarriers Americas deploy machines running BrainOS. The company is led by CEO Dr. Eugene Izhikevich and focuses on supporting builders of today’s autonomous machines in production, deployment and support. Brain Corp plans to expand beyond floor care into applications like inventory delivery and shelf analytics to improve employee productivity, reduce costs, and enhance customer experiences. It also intends to use capital to support manufacturing and sales efforts of OEM partners in new markets, including Europe and Asia‑Pacific. Brain Corp develops BrainOS, a software platform that enables manufacturers to add autonomy to commercial robots using off-the-shelf hardware and sensors. The platform uses AI to allow robots to control motion, perceive surroundings, perform indoor self-driving and avoid obstacles. Brain sells BrainOS as a SaaS subscription, so clients pay recurring fees to add autonomy to existing equipment. The company positions BrainOS to play a role similar to Android for smartphones and targets use cases including cleaning, sorting, security and post-last-mile services in retail and shared environments. Qualcomm is a strategic partner and Brain plans to port BrainOS to Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile chips to reduce cost and simplify deployment. Financially, Brain Corp raised $114 million in a Series C led by SoftBank’s Vision Fund with participation from Qualcomm Ventures.
