BRAT
Via Ascanio Sforza 37/a, Milano, MI, 20136, Italy
Overview
Brat makes scripted dramas and web series for a purely teen audience, publishing shows like Chicken Girls on YouTube. The studio intentionally keeps production costs low—co-founder Rob Fishman says they spend in the hundreds of thousands of dollars per season versus seven-figure-per-episode budgets at large streamers. Brat recruits popular vloggers and places its shows in a shared "high school universe" to cross-pollinate viewership, and has increased episode lengths (season finale reached 22 minutes) as it scales. Chicken Girls reportedly received "10 million views over a half an hour," and season two is underway. Production operates with roughly 20-person crews and aims to achieve Hollywood-style production values at a fraction of traditional costs (Fishman said about 1/100th the cost). The company is positioning itself to capture Gen Z viewing and advertising spend and to become a youth-culture brand.
