Broken String Biosciences
Unit AB3-04, Level 3, BioData Innovation Centre, Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambridge, CB10 1DR, United Kingdom
Overview
Broken String Biosciences is a Cambridge-based genomics company developing INDUCE-seq, an NGS-based DNA break mapping platform aimed at making cell and gene therapies safer by design. INDUCE-seq leverages a PCR-free approach to directly measure and quantify DNA double-strand breaks and assess off-target editing events for genome editing tools such as CRISPR-Cas9. The platform provides data-driven, actionable insights across discovery, pre-clinical and clinical development to inform therapeutic programs and mitigate later-stage risks. The $15M Series A will be used to develop INDUCE-seq into a scalable Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), expand capabilities beyond gene editing, broaden the company’s go-to-market strategy, and drive commercial traction. Funding will also support recruitment for the UK team at the Wellcome Genome Campus and the establishment of a US office. The company has demonstrated progress since its 2021 seed round and, according to investors, has generated repeat revenues across a portfolio of partners.
