ByBlue specializes in the import, distribution, and in-house development of new blueberry varieties for global markets. To secure year-round supply, the company is building a 30-hectare, greenhouse-like blueberry farm in Peru’s Ica Valley, a region whose August-to-December harvest window fills Europe’s annual supply gap. ByBlue will operate the farm with local partner Wellness Fruit, creating 20 permanent and roughly 600 seasonal jobs while deploying advanced water- and energy-efficient technologies suited to the valley’s arid conditions. Knowledge from its varietal R&D will be shared with other growers to accelerate sustainable production practices across the sector. The project strengthens the Netherlands’ role as a central fruit-trade hub by giving ByBlue tighter control over varietal quality and supply timing. Although specific revenue or user figures were not disclosed, the company cites rapidly growing European and Asian demand for blueberries as the commercial driver for its expansion.
