Caldera
589 Howard Street Floor 3, San Francisco, California, 94105, United States
Overview
Caldera develops Metalayer, a unified rollup ecosystem intended to connect and scale Ethereum rollups. The company has deployed high-performance, customizable rollups for teams including ApeCoin, Manta Network, Rarible, INJECTIVE, and Plume Network. Caldera chains cumulatively hold over $800M in total value locked (TVL) and have executed more than 60M blockchain transactions. The team argues the rollup landscape is fragmented and that Metalayer is needed to enable seamless connectivity between rollup frameworks. Their stated goal is to help Ethereum reach web-scale by providing interoperability across rollups. The company highlights ongoing work with top web3 teams and plans to use the new capital to build out the Metalayer ecosystem. Caldera provides a no-code platform to simplify creation of app-specific layer-2 blockchains, targeting web3 developers who can write Ethereum smart contracts but don’t want to manage blockchain infrastructure. The platform is live on mainnet with select partners in DeFi and gaming for both Ethereum and Polygon. Caldera plans a public beta within roughly a month and aims to be widely available by summer. The company says its goal is an all-in-one solution so developers can focus on apps rather than underlying blockchain plumbing. Co-founders Matt Katz and CTO Parker Jou launched the startup in March 2022. The recent fundraising will be used to accelerate development, hire to strengthen the core product, and improve the user interface.
