Overview
Cambridge Mechatronics (CML) designs and controls Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuators and dedicated controller ICs primarily for smartphone imaging. Its SMA products, including an SMA Variable Aperture and patented Zero Hold Power technology, provide compact, lightweight autofocus and optical image stabilization while avoiding electromagnetic interference associated with voice coil motors. CML has shipped its technology in over 70 million products to date and holds over 700 patents pending and granted. The company intends to expand its SMA actuator and semiconductor platform beyond smartphone cameras into healthcare, precision drug delivery, haptics for smartphones and game controllers, and interactive entertainment. The recent oversubscribed funding will support growth of its actuator and controller IC product portfolios and accelerate team expansion and commercialization.
