Its offering was initially built for public equity managers and has expanded to serve investors focused on credit, private equity, venture capital, as well as investment banks, consultancies, and corporate clients. Canalyst has over 100 employees across Vancouver and New York City and serves more than 400 clients. Canalyst plans to use new funding to expand investment in talent with particular focus on product enhancements and client service. Canalyst provides a cloud-based, on-demand equity model database of full, company-specific Excel models to institutional investors and analysts. The platform offers coverage across 3,600+ U.S. and Canadian listed securities, including S&P 500, Russell 2000, TSX and TSX‑V names. Canalyst serves CIOs, portfolio managers and directors of research to help them ramp up coverage and generate higher-conviction investment ideas. The company reported rapid user growth and plans to further develop its analytics capabilities to maximize platform value. Canalyst intends to expand the breadth of its coverage, with a specific emphasis on small- and mid-cap companies. In 2016 Canalyst closed a seed round and launched its North American Equity Model Database.
