CarbonPool provides carbon credit insurance with claims payments made in-kind, investing collected premiums alongside its own capital into high-quality carbon removal projects to enable those in-kind claims. The company offers assessments and pre-underwriting agreements to corporations, institutional investors, and carbon removal developers. It has an insurance license application underway in Switzerland. CarbonPool is also in conversations with government bodies including the United Nations and the State of California. The firm intends to use the $12M funding to accelerate investment in carbon credits. CarbonPool was founded by former Allianz executives Coenraad Vrolijk, Nandini Wilcke and Frederic Olbert.
