Chapul Cricket Protein
222 S Main St Ste 500, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84101, United States
Overview
Chapul began in 2012 from a Kickstarter campaign and gained broader exposure after appearing on Shark Tank with the first U.S. cricket protein bar. The company has continued to pioneer the insect protein category while expanding into insect farming and regenerative projects. Chapul is focused on using black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) to upcycle food waste into larvae for protein and frass as a fertilizer alternative. Future plans center on launching Chapul Farms and building an Insect Innovation & Research Center to run feedstock trials and accelerate insect agriculture. The company announced a $2.5 million investment round to support these efforts and to build an insect agriculture facility and team. Chapul is partnering with Nexus PMG and research partners to test frass in soil and scale waste-to-value applications.
