Overview
Cheq is a Go-to-Market security (GTMSec) provider offering cybersecurity solutions to protect sales pipelines, marketing funnels, sites, eCommerce, data and analytics from fake visitors, fraudsters and malicious bot traffic. The company is used by over 12,000 customers across 50,000 websites worldwide. Cheq raised a $150M Series C to accelerate growth and expand its research and development, sales and marketing teams. The company holds offices in New York, Tel-Aviv and Tokyo and aims to nearly triple its growth in 2022 across North America, EMEA and APAC. Led by CEO Guy Tytunovich, Cheq focuses on protecting Go-to-Market teams and scaling its product and commercial footprint. The round brings the company’s total funding to-date to $183M. Cheq builds a proactive ad-fraud prevention and brand-safety platform that blocks invalid or unsafe ad placements in real time. Rather than relying on post hoc verification, Cheq examines about 1,200 factors and inspects every single impression in JavaScript to reduce false positives and negatives. The company emphasizes accuracy to combat increasingly sophisticated, organized ad fraud and cites a Cheq report estimating fraud will cost advertisers $23 billion this year. Cheq is expanding into new channels such as connected TV and console gaming. CEO Guy Tytunovich frames the company’s ambition as becoming the “immune system of the internet,” addressing not only fraud but broader problems like fake news and harmful ad placements. Financially, Cheq recently raised $16 million in a Series B after a $5 million Series A the prior year. Cheq provides an "autonomous brand safety" platform that uses AI to analyze impressions in real time and block those that appear fraudulent or adjacent to undesirable content. The system examines roughly 700 data parameters per impression to make instant serve-or-block decisions. Advertisers set placement guidelines up front, and Cheq records reasons why individual ads were not served for post-hoc review. The company emphasizes speed and automation, drawing on the team’s prior experience in the Israel Defense Forces to compensate for scale with automation. About 80% of Cheq’s team are developers, and the company says most new funding will be used for further product development. Cheq operates offices in Tokyo, New York and Tel Aviv and is focused on the American and Japanese markets; companies listed on its website include Coca-Cola, Turner and Mercedes-Benz (the spokesperson said those listings reflect participation in The Bridge program).
