Cinclus Pharma

Overview
Cinclus Pharma is a Swedish late-stage biopharmaceutical company developing small molecules to treat gastric acid–related diseases. Its lead candidate, linaprazan glurate, is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) aimed at patients unresponsive to proton pump inhibitors and for use in H. pylori eradication. The company highlights linaprazan glurate’s potential to improve acid suppression, increase antibiotic stability, and thereby reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and antimicrobial resistance. Proceeds from a 240 MSEK venture financing will advance the lead program through two Phase III clinical trials for GERD and H. pylori infection and support regulatory and commercialization efforts. Trill Impact will support ongoing clinical development and accelerate market access in select low- and middle-income countries; Nina Rawal of Trill Impact will join the board. Cinclus says the financing will accelerate its road to approval and commercialization and strengthen its investor base, which includes AP4 and Linc. Cinclus Pharma Holding AB is advancing X842, a clinical-stage drug candidate for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). X842 is based on a substance initially developed by AstraZeneca and has demonstrated a favorable safety profile and pharmacokinetic characteristics in a Phase 1 study and studies including over 2,500 individuals. The company plans to use the financing to perform a Phase 2 clinical trial expected to start in the second half of 2020, cover operating costs and carry out activities to ready the program for a pivotal Phase 3 trial. Cinclus Pharma is led by CEO Kjell Andersson. Cinclus Pharma Holding AB is the 100% owner of Cinclus Pharma AG, a research-based biotech located in Basel, Switzerland.
