Overview
CleanDesign develops and deploys Hybrid Energy Management Systems (hEMS) that layer intelligent, hardware-agnostic software and AI on top of existing diesel-based power infrastructure and battery storage. Its hEMS platform collects 60,000 data points per second per unit to dynamically optimize power usage, reduce fuel consumption, extend equipment life, and lower emissions. Customers include drilling service providers and remote mining operations, with deployments in regions such as Mexico and Nunavut in Canada’s Arctic Circle. The company reports diesel consumption reductions of approximately 10–15% in some remote sites and up to 20% emissions reductions in field deployments, and highlights substantial cost savings where diesel is expensive. CleanDesign plans to scale deployments across North America, expand into additional mining and remote energy applications, and continue product development, including a newer Highline system designed to enable industrial connections to grid power while optimizing usage through software. After the $20 million growth investment led by Edison Partners, two Edison principals joined CleanDesign’s board to support commercialization and scaling efforts.
