Overview

CLEARink is developing the world’s first color- and video-capable ePaper 2.0 displays using its patent-protected TIR reflective-display technology. Its displays aim to offer very low power consumption, sunlight readability, color/video representation and improved eye-health and environmental benefits versus LCDs. Target applications include tablets, laptops, wearables, IoT displays, electronic shelf labels, outdoor signage and automotive. The company was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Fremont, California. CLEARink has raised over US$25 million in financing from strategic investors such as M Ventures and Lenovo Capital. Lenovo has invested in CLEARink, joined its board and commenced joint development to build next-generation tablet devices using CLEARink’s technology. Clearink Displays develops reflective, ultra-low-power displays based on Total Internal Reflection (TIR) combined with single particle electrophoretic technology. Its displays are thin as paper, feather light, sunlight readable, and capable of color and video. Targeted applications include eSchoolbooks, wearables and other mobile devices, and electronic shelf labels (ESLs). The company closed a $5M Series C round that was half subscribed. The funding will enable Clearink to complete trial manufacturing and commence mass production next year. Clearink was founded in 2012 and is led by CEO Frank Christiaens in Fremont, California. CLEARink develops patented reflective display technology aimed at electronic shelf labels (ESLs), wearables, and mobile devices. The company plans to expand Joint Development Agreement (JDA) efforts with partners and to launch its first mass-produced product. CLEARink is developing an ultra low-power, full-color display roadmap capable of running full-motion video content. Financially, the company closed a second round of funding of $7M and has raised more than US$10M in total financing to date. It intends to raise an additional $6M in the next four months to support development and commercialization. CLEARink was founded in 2012 and is led by CEO Frank Christiaens.
