CMITech develops iris recognition systems and solutions for the global biometrics and secure identity assurance markets. Its systems support large-scale enrollment programs, immigration and border control, law enforcement, healthcare, financial services and access control, and are in active use by governmental, non-governmental organizations and commercial entities worldwide. Founded in 2009 by Dr. JJ Chae and led operationally by COO Phil Tusa, the company is based in Seoul and maintains a principal sales and marketing office in San Jose, California. CMITech completed a $2.1M Series B financing in August 2016. Backers included Magellan Technology Investment, SBI Investment Korea and Industrial Bank of Korea Capital. The company intends to use the proceeds to accelerate R&D and expand its global customer support presence.
